Our Parks & Recreation professionals enhance our quality of life. - Our engineers help keep our drinking water clean, the largest airport in the world (by passenger volume) operating and our buildings maintained. -Along with the host of Finance, Procurement, and Human Resources professionals whose support is vital, we are the City of Atlanta! - If you are seeking a meaningful role where you can make a real difference improving and growing our City, we welcome you to explore the job opportunities we have to offer. - Salary Range -$27,100 - $33,900 - Close Date -Until filled - General Description and Classification Standards Performs preventive maintenance services and minor mechanical repair work on light duty vehicles, medium duty vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, Lawn & Turf equipment, and Motorcycles. - This position provides assistance to other mechanics as needed and works alone when the need requires; prepares maintenance records and performs other related -duties as required. Supervision Received Works under direct supervision and follows standardized policy, procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The candidate will be required to assist other divisions with any task if so directed.

• Inspect, operate, test and repair light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty equipment for proper operation.
• Repair and maintain various types of vehicles and equipment including, but not limited to, emergency vehicles, fire apparatus.
• Performs preventative maintenance necessary to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles, mechanical work; repairs or replaces under supervision, alternators, belts, fuses, valves, batteries, wheels, tires or any other component as required.
• Responds or assist with service call requests; retrieves or repairs vehicle and equipment in the field when needed.
• Prepares, updates, and maintains maintenance records and documentation.
• Cleans and maintains all shop facilities and equipment.
• Changes and repairs all sizes of tires or tubes as needed.
• Transports vehicles, equipment, and parts to various locations for a variety of purposes. Decision Making Follows and selects from multiple standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Leadership Provided None Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of automotive principles
  • Basic use of computer and standard business software packages
  • Ability to: read and comprehend property documentation: to meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Possess basic entry level tools for vehicle repairs
