  The Role
  
  The Research and Innovation (R&I) department requires a professional with experience in Research and Development or New Product Development to deliver on the product development roadmap growing Avanos' enteral feeding business . This candidate must possess strong technical leadership skills with a deep understanding in working in design controls, PDP, requirements writing and management, identifying customer unmet needs.
  
  Responsibilities
  • Work closely with business and cross-functional partners to execute individual projects as part of the multi-year roadmap for the digestive health portfolio balancing technical complexity, regulatory pathway, customer needs and feedback with project timelines.
  • Provide tactical platform level technical leadership for developing medical devices.
  • Drive product development and design control activities from concept to commercialization via Avanos' stage-gate process.
  • Maintain strong working relationship with key contract manufacturers to ensure manufacturing processes and essential design output requirements are transferred and commercially released in the most efficient manner.
  • Develop protocols, test methods, validation strategies to evaluate and meet design inputs.
  • Assist in strategizing and executing customer facing activities like voice of customer and customer centric design for assigned project.
  • Participate in Design Thinking Workshops to develop a pipeline of new products
  • Mentor co-ops.
  • Willing to travel up to 15% at times. Your Qualifications
    • Years of experience: 2+ years of experience in medical device R&D with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, 2+ years of experience with a Masters of Biomedical Engineering or Biomedical Innovation and Development
    • Experience in translating voice of customer to unmet needs.
    • Experience observing customers firsthand to uncover unmet needs.
    • Experience writing technical requirements and specifications and translating requirements to V&V strategies.
    • Experience in medical device concept design and technical execution preferred
    • Working knowledge of design controls (FDA 21 CRF 820.30) and medical device quality management systems is preferred
