The Department of Educational Policy Studies, located in the
College of Education and Human Development, offers graduate degrees
and certificates. The department has a strong reputation for
excellent teaching, outstanding research and scholarly
productivity, and a diverse student body. More than twenty
tenured/tenure-track faculty and clinical faculty in the department
contribute to Georgia State University's ranking as the second-best
undergraduate teaching university by U.S. News & World Report
magazine in 2023. Faculty and students collaborate with the Alonzo
A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence, the Urban Studies
Institute at Georgia State University, the Urban Child Study
Center, and the Center for Evaluation and Research Services, among
other centers. The department houses The Principals Center, which
is a collaborative effort to provide cutting edge professional
development for school leaders. Faculty expertise spans research
methodologies, critical approaches to educational theory and
practice, technology in leadership, and socio-cultural

Position Description
The Department of Educational Policy Studies at Georgia State
University invites applications for the tenure-track position of
Assistant/Associate Professor of Quantitative Research starting
August 2025. Candidates must have an earned doctorate with an
emphasis on quantitative methodology and evidence of previous
application of these methods to relevant issues in education. The
position entails teaching and mentoring PhD, EdD, and Masters
students from the College of Education in graduate level courses.
Presence on campus for face-to-face teaching and mentoring of
students is an essential function of the position. The modality,
location and day/time of classes is at the sole discretion of the
department. The successful applicant will be expected to maintain
an on-going program of research and publication, seek external
support for research when appropriate, advise and mentor graduate
students, serve on graduate student thesis and dissertation
committees, work with diverse student populations, provide service
to the university and profession, and communicate effectively with
educational partners.
Required Experience
Assistant Tenure-Track Professor Position: No prior experience
required.
The Associate rank would be considered for a candidate with at
least four or more years of experience teaching and leading
research at a research-intensive institution.
Required Education
At time of appointment, the successful applicant will have an
earned doctorate with an emphasis on Quantitative Research Methods
in Education.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Preferred qualifications include teaching experience at a college
or university and a record of publication. Expertise in one or more
of the following areas is preferred: hierarchical linear modeling
(HLM), mixed methods, machine learning, statistical
programming,and/or quasi-experimental designs. A professional and
pedagogical alignment with critical quantitative methodology is
also preferred. The successful applicant will be able to teach (in
multiple modalities) graduate level courses on quantitative
methods. As a member of the Research, Statistics, and Measurement
faculty, applicants should demonstrate a commitment to publications
emphasizing the advancement of quantitative methodologies.
Candidates who have not yet earned their doctoral degree may be
considered at the Assistant rank but evidence of an impending
successful degree conferral will be required.
